The Balaton Sound Festival is one of the biggest electro festivals in Europe. Created in 2007 by the organizers of the Sziget Festival in Budapest, the next edition of Balaton Sound will take place in 2024  from July 3rd to July 6th in Zámardi!

The Balaton Sound takes place on the southern shore of Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe (600 km2, length 78 km, width varying from 1 to 15 km) located less than 100 km from the Hungarian capital Budapest.

The Balaton Sound takes place in the municipality of Zamardi, 106 km from Budapest. This small town of 3000 inhabitants is located 10 km from the town of Siofok, the largest resort on Lake Balaton, sometimes called the ‘Hungarian Ibiza’.

The Lake Balaton region, surrounded by vineyards and hills, has a very pleasant continental climate: the lake generates a temperate microclimate that cools down during the summer. Between June and August the average temperature is 27 degrees during the day and 15 degrees at night.
The temperature of Lake Balaton reaches 25 degrees very quickly during the summer season.

Every year, the most famous DJs from all over the world come to the decks. The music programme is eclectic: electro, hip hop, new wave, neo soul, …. and more await you on the main stage and the other stages and tents of Balaton Sound. The festival has hosted great artists such as DJ Snake, Paul Van Duk, Tricky, David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Chemical Brothers, Jamiroquai, Sean Paul and many more.

ARMIN VAN BUUREN, BLASTERJAXX, DIMITRI VEGAS & LIKE MIKE, DON DIABLO, GOODBOYS, HARDWELL, JUSTUS, KSHMR,KUNGS, OFENBACH, REGARD, TIËSTO, VINIVICI, YVESV, ALLEFRABEN, JOEL CORRY, RITON and many others are expected to attend the 2023 edition.

Managed by the Sziget Festival teams in Budapest, the Balaton Sound has a real know-how. During the day, artistic and sport events take place in an idyllic setting where you will also find numerous culinary stands, bars and food shops. There is a hospital unit on site and security is a priority.

How to get to Balaton Sound Festival ?

From Budapest:

By car:
Located 108 km from Budapest, you will reach Zamárdi by car in 1 hour with 100 km on the M7 motorway ( cost of about 10 euros for the national motorway pass valid for 10 days, minimum duration).

By train:
From Budapest South Train Station (‘Déli pályaudvar’) in Buda (1st district) which serves the main cities along Lake Balaton.
Déli station is also the terminus of the M2 metro line.
Trains depart at least every two hours during the summer. Travel time Budapest – Zamardi: 1h30-2h00 depending on the stops made by the chosen train.
Cost of the single ticket is around 10-15 euros, with the possibility of taking a bicycle for a small supplement.

By bus:
There are also bus companies from Népliget station (in Pest, accessible by Metro line M3) that provide daily connections to the Lake Balaton region. Information on the different timetables can be found on this link from the Volanbusz website.

Where to sleep during the festival?

You can choose between several accommodation options: the cheapest option is camping on the festival site. You can also rent a flat around the festival or stay in a hotel. There are many buses and trains that can take you from the surrounding towns and cities to the festival within 15 minutes.
