Located in the city centre on Nagymező Street, the street of the theatres near the Opera House, the N28 WINE AND KITCHEN restaurant welcomes you with gourmet Hungarian bistro cuisine and expert wine tasting.

Chef Szabolcs Nagy and his team orchestrate a mischievous cuisine blending the heritage of classical gastronomy with more personal, modernist influences. Here, the quality of the ingredients and the cooking techniques make this place a little gem for discovering or rediscovering Hungarian cuisine!

An iconic dish of Hungarian cuisine, we tasted here one of the best Goulash soups in Budapest: Beef cheek, pieces of Mangalica sausage, chunks of perfectly cooked vegetables and a surprisingly dense paprika soup juice are harmoniously prepared for a splendid taste result.

And don’t miss the ‘lecsó’, a ‘Hungarian ratatouille’ of vegetables served with cooked duck liver with a delicious texture and ‘al dente’ peppers. Once again, top bistro cuisine!

The main courses also feature intuitive cooking that plays on the power of flavours. The magic happens. On the plates, the dish is in the spotlight and the technique, at its service, is there to tell it better. A cuisine that is readable, fine, elegant and free of artifice… In a word: authentic!

As chef Szabolcs Nagy told us, this is not Hungarian cuisine reinvented, but a cuisine using uncompromising quality ingredients, grown locally and sourced from small producers, cooked with the appropriate technology and the team expertise.

The service is impeccable in its advice and tempo, and the colourful, well-presented dishes will awaken all your senses for a gastronomic journey that should not take long to be rewarded by the most prestigious gastronomic guides.

Another strong point of N28 WINE AND KITCHEN is its love of wine and its splendid selection of Hungarian wines introduced to us by sommelier Ivett Lisztes.
She passionately shared some of her favorites with us: “For me, Tokaj is the centre of the world and a great love affair. We have here not only an excellent selection of natural sweet wines, but also dry wines. Take a Tokaj Furmint: a very nice blend of Furmint (a white Hungarian grape) and lime leaves. I’d say a foreign visitor should try it without hesitation.

For red wines, I recommend wines of Szekszárd. It’s a very warm wine region, very close to my heart. We also have some very good Bikavér wines from the town of Eger, which are world-famous and well worth discovering”.
